Hobby Lobby Find...

Saturday, December 20, 2008

Yvonne told me about the great wrapping paper at Hobby Lobby. She even posted a picture of what she bought. Needless to say, I think I got the better paper! I have to admit, I am NOT hoarding this paper. There are actually gifts underneath my Christmas tree wrapped in this gorgeous paper. AND, I bought curling ribbon to match. So, excited!

Another year older....

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

OK. It's true. I AM another year older. Probably another gray hair to add to the list. Hopefully, not another wrinkle.

I had a great day on Sunday. Scott remembered my birthday WITHOUT being reminded! He gave me a 1/2 dozen red roses, which I loved, and which promted some pictures of the girls (will post those later). He also got me a 1/4 sheet cake. Like that will really help the diet, or lack thereof. He and the girls gave me the cutest cards.

Um, and my friends....well, I spoke with Yvonne that morning, who did NOT remember my birthday. However, Stephanie called me around noon to wish me a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Mind you, I even spoke with my little sister that morning, who did NOT remember my birthday. Yvonne eventually remembered later on that day, as did Kristy and all my sisters. My little year-and-a-half-old niece called to sing happy birthday to me in her little adorable voice!!

Two of my other girlfriends remembered yesterday...LOL! I can honestly say that it doesn't bother me one bit, because every year goes by and a lot of people forget my birthday. I think that because it's so close to Christmas, it takes a while for it to register.

I remember one year, my dad called me at work to wish me a happy birthday. My dad...who doesn't normally say HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Then, the next question out of his mouth was "And how old are you this year?" Hmmmm...um, I was the first child. And, he didn't remember. :D I can't say I remember how many years ago this occurred, but I remember that day. No one else remembered until around 8 o'clock that night!

Other than that, it was a great day! I stayed around the house for the most part. Finishing the Christmas tree. Cleaning. That is, until I had to go to Target to get more Christmas lights for the tree. So, add in, shopping for lights and a few teachers gifts. All in all, a very relaxing day. Top that off with a visit from my in-laws, which I am ALWAYS happy to see!

It was a nice day!

P.S. Promise....will post my Twilight review soon!

Not the Twilight review.....YET.....

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

OK, my friends have all blogged about the movie. Me, I've been working. The good news is I am at the light at the end of the tunnel. Now, if I can get my house a little organized and that darned, stupid Christmas tree up, I will blog about the movie, as it will take too long (probably) in one sitting.

For those of you, who visit the blog and do not leave comments (so I don't really know who you are), you need to visit Stephanie's blog, Kristy's blog, and Yvonne's blog. Hmmm... You will definitely notice a theme. Heehee! Haahaa!

So, I leave you with: "Yes. No. To get to the other side. 1.77245..." and
"ARIZONA! How you likin da rain?"

(That was for you, girls, if you didn't figure that out.)

My movie review........

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Well, at this time, all I will say is that I DID go see the movie. Since Yvonne and Bre were sick and were not able to go with us, I will not say if I loved the movie or if I was disappointed with the movie. I will NOT say anything, except that some really annoying little teenie boppers tried to butt in line after the group I went with waited in line for an hour and a half....hmmm. Other than that, I will not say anything more about the movie.

However, I did not say I was NOT going to talk about TWILIGHT! In the spirit of the obsession, I had a little free time Thursday night, so while Kristy and I counted down the hour, down to the last minute, and obviously, the last second.....I created a small little ATC card in honor of what my mother calls the "silliness". Do I really seem like I care? Um, no. I've always had a tendency to become engrossed in whatever I do, be it work, collecting figurines (which I have since gotten rid of), hoarding scrapbooking supplies, etc. etc. So, I figure my twilight obsession could be chalked up to my OCD, which I now like to call my "obsessive Cullen disorder" (for those of you who don't know, the Cullens are the good vampire family in the books). And for those of you wondering, NO. The little picture and the words on the card are NOT crooked. It is the stupid scanner, and I have tried to fix it to no avail. So, my OCD is fine, since this is only a scan, and I can deal with it. It is OK....(breathing)....

And, now, I feel like the after-Christmas let down. You get so excited about something (and, yes, in this case, it was the premier of Twilight) that for weeks, you are on like this euphoric high. Only to have that specific day come and go, and now I feel like how am I ever going to go on with my life post-Twilight? (Oh, come on girls, you know how I feel!!)

So, to Bre and Yvonne, GET BETTER SOON!

It's almost here!!!

Thursday, November 20, 2008

I cannot stand it! It's almost here! In just a few hours, Twilight will be officially released!

Kristy's got our tickets. Stephanie is almost finished with Breaking Dawn. I've got my Twilight T-shirt and my bracelet. My amber-colored contacts should be here by tomorrow (keep your fingers crossed). Now, all Yvonne and Breanna have to do is GET BETTER! What a rotten time to get sick ~ the few days prior to the release of TWILIGHT!! Woohoo!!

I swear, I'm going to yell and scream at the opening credits! I'm just not going to be able to stand it! Thank goodness it's almost here!

And, officially today, Rob Pattison confirmed that he will be New Moon and Eclipse (when he signed onto Twilight, he thought it was a trilogy. Silly boy!) What more could a girl ask for?

I can hardly stand it! Less than 4 days left....

It's what I've been waiting for....

TWILIGHT!

AHHHHHH!!

I swear, I could just talk about Twilight ALL DAY long!! It's great to have friends who are SO anticipating this movie along with me. At least, I know I'm not the only crazy one. I feel like I'm about 16 again.....waiting for this movie to come out!

And guess what? Summit Entertainment has purchased the rights on the other three books. AND..... Look for New Moon to be released in 2010!! Yep, you read it right!! I wish it was like ready NEXT week! (I know, I'm dreaming....).

Gotta go get me some vampire teeth. And, yes, I still need to get my T-shirt....Ahhhh! Can't wait!!

Just HAD to have this! I SO totally LOVE it! It's classy, and when I'm wearing it, you can't really tell what it says. Only a true twilighter can appreciate this. So, Kristy! Look what I got! Ha! Ha!!

An ODE to friends....

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

It is SO nice to have friends that are as crazy-obsessed as I am!! Welcome to the TWILIGHT ZONE, Kristy!! Between Kim, Yvonne, Kristy, and I, well....can I say, I LOVE the fact that this has become our obsession! Add to that, we all have the Twilight countdown on our blogs. We can't stop talking about the books and the upcoming movie release!! And, then, Kristy is texting me from her college class about Twilight! LOL!

Did I mention that I am working on a scrapbook page about this? I'll post it when I'm finished....Nothing is ever easy for me. First, I tried to print pictures, but before I did that, I had to manually configure my monitor so that what I printed would be kind of true to color to what I was seeing on the screen. NOPE! It did not work. NOW, my Twilight screensaver is all WHACKED out! Edward is now more flourescent white....a little freaky. So, I did manage to convince the DH that I NEEDED an actual monitor calibrator program to get this fixed, or I was going to DIE! (This should be coming on Friday! Yeah!) Not to mention the fact that my desk looks like someone just threw stuff on it, which is probably true, but it's just a mess!! I'll get to it eventually.

Took the munchkins to the pumpkin patch last night. NOT a good experience. "Syd, look at me!" The child looks everywhere else BUT AT ME! I swear, I have about 20 pictures where she is looking away. And, apparently, Bo "forgot" how to smile. Um, it's kind of freaky when your child is sticking out her whole bottom jaw and asking, "Is this pretty?" NO! We may have to try this again, but with Bo being sick, we may just miss pumpkin patch pictures. Ugh!

It would be so nice to actually find a pumpkin field with flowers, grass, and NO wooden pallets.....To live up North.......this is the time of year I envy them....well, and maybe during the summer......

Crazy Obsessed...

Monday, October 6, 2008

Yep, I guess that's what you'd call me. I'm SO into the Twilight series right now, and I have to admit, I have actually read Twilight twice. Yes, twice. I am actually reading New Moon again. (Um, thanks, Kim....look what you started!!)

At least I know I'm not the only "crazy" one out there! (Hey, Yvonne!!) So, in tribute to my madness, part of the cast and crew of Twilight appear in my new banner. No, I'm not finished with it yet....I told you it's an obsession. I guess I'll work on it later this week.

Not much going on here. Got together with my family on Saturday to celebrate my father and sister's birthday. Then, got together with the DH's family yesterday to celebrate his mother's birthday. It's always nice to get together.

And, now, I'm sick. Yucky feeling.... On top of that, I have to work tomorrow. But at least my house is clean. Not picked up, but clean. Just too bad I still have things to do.

But, on a nicer note, I'm getting together with my peeps on Friday for just some good ole "girl time". We're going to go to lunch to celebrate Kristy and Stephanie's birthdays (dare we ask "how old", ladies?) Then, off to scrapbooking we go. So, at least I'll get a break from the doldrums of this week. (did I mention I am so not looking forward to work?) Anyways, I have my page all planned.....da, da, da, da....I'm going to do a page about my Twilight obsession. What else? (I think I'll get around to doing a Harry Potter page, too. That way, someday, my girls can know what a nut their mother was!! Ha!)

My latest obsession....

Monday, September 29, 2008

You can see why you haven't heard from me....Thank you SO much, Kim, for mentioning these books! I was hooked from the beginning! Let's see, how to explain.

Thursday morning ~ I read one chapter before I went to work, but due to everyday-during-the-week life, I didn't pick the book up again. I had to be at work on Friday by 7 am, as we had a meeting. I didn't leave the office until 7 pm. I spent some time with the family, and then, from 9 to midnight, I worked some more from home.

My mind was keyed up, so by 12:30 am, I decided to pick up Twilight. Um, okay. Only problem with that idea was I didn't go to bed until after 5 in the morning. And, yes, I did finish Twilight.

I worked some more on Saturday. I finished around 3:30 pm, and, then, I dragged the girls to Target to pick up the other three books in the Twilight series. I got home around 4:30. I cut Syd's hair, and, then, I took the girls outside to play. Of course, I parked my rear on a lounge chair outside, and I began New Moon. By 11:30 pm, I finished New Moon. Did I mention that fact that I LOVED the books? I just couldn't get enough.

Sunday, well, I didn't do "anything" except read. I polished off Eclipse and began Breaking Dawn. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the last book before I went to bed.

I went to work today, and I have to admit (smile) that I couldn't wait to get home to finish the last 250 pages of my book. I was DYING to see how it would end. So, it's finished! And, no, I DO NOT skim read. In fact, I can probably tell you each story in detail. It's an uncanny thing I'm able to do....

Now, if Yvonne will get her bootie in gear and finish reading, then, we can chat. Oh, Kim! Thanks again! Got any other suggestions of what I need to read? Oh, I do have the Eragon Series. Just picked up the last book the other day. Yeah!! I think I'll wait for another weekend, though, as I didn't even clean anything this weekend :)

There would be one plus to being a vampire, though. I'd NEVER have to go to sleep! Could you imagine what I could get done?

Your Power Color Is Lime Green

At Your Highest:

You are adventurous, witty, and a visionary.

At Your Lowest:

You feel misunderstood, like you don't fit in.

In Love:

You have a tough exterior but can be very dedicated.

How You're Attractive:

Your self-awareness and confidence lights up a room.

Your Eternal Question:

"What else do I need in my life?"

OK, I love the color red. Who would have thought I would be green? But then, again, isn't green a complimenting color of red? Well, I like green too! Especially, the outdoor kind of green, like grass and flowers. And, it makes a nice color backdrop in pictures!!

The family and I went to the beach this weekend. No pictures...well, a few of the surroundings, but not of my girls. Or the hubby. Only of the niece, who was pigging out on Cheetos and feeding them to the ugliest pidgeon I have ever seen! And, we had cable to watch at the hotel! Bo kept saying, "Can you fast forward this? I don't want to watch this!" "Can you rewind that? I want to see it again!" I had to keep explaining that you couldn't do that on this TV (for those of you who don't know, we don't have cable at home).

Anyways, we did happen to catch a music video on Disney. One with Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers. Bo LOVED it! She asked me, "Mommy, can I have a stage like that for my birthday?"

M: "We'll see."

Bo: "And, I need a white jacket. And a blue shirt. And white pants. And boots. So I can sing on stage."

Um, what 3-year-old, almost 4, asks for this?

Then, to top it off, Syd came down with some GI bug last night/early morning. Basically, you can say that I cleaned up vomit from like bedding, the sink, etc. Nasty! I did approximately 5 loads of laundry between 1 am and 5 am. Didn't go to work today, but I did work from home. Anyways, I digress. I have to go to Walmart this morning for some bland foods for the girl, and I happened to pick up Camp Rock for the girls.

I brought it home (and currently, we have watched it 3 times so far). Anyways, Bo is lying on the couch, when I heard her sigh.

M: "What's the matter, Bo?"

Bo: "I just can't wait until I go to Camp Rock!"

Future diva? I think so!

What I did last night

Saturday, August 23, 2008

Are you guys shocked speechless yet? I know, amazing what I can post when I totally neglect work and my house!! LOL! Made this page last night when I got together with the girls. Feel like I actually accomplished something....it was really the ONLY thing I accomplished yesterday. It was great to get out and spend time with everyone. As usual, Gaye had us in stitches....she's so much fun. Stephanie was asking about dinner within the hour, which is no new surprise. What would we do without her? And, of course, I cannot forget Yvonne and Bre, who were both a big help with Bo! Then, it was wonderful to see Kristy and Mason!! They just popped in to say "hi". Really missed you, girl!

Anyways, I need to go and clean house. So far, I haven't managed to get anything done this morning besides playing with my blog and watching She-ra with the girls. This just brings back such fond childhood memories!

Some scrappy goodness....

Friday, August 22, 2008

I just wanted a simple layout. One that would challenge me to use only a few embellishments. Well, this was it. I used a chipboard butterfly covered with a small piece of patterned paper, one Prima bling, and a piece of jute ribbon. Obviously, I did use a 12 x 12 piece of patterned paper. All the rest of the "embellishments" were created with stamps, paint, and pearl-x, which is fast becoming a favorite of mine!!

Just wanted to share something else; I love scrapbooking, but my passion is photography. BUT, I admit, I am sadly lacking in that area of my life right now. Work seems to consume me, but I promise, I am trying to cut back. At least for the sake of my house, which has fallen into total disarray, my kids, and my garden! I am so waiting for the cooler weather, which I love, so I can piddle outside in my yard among the butterflies, ladybugs, and flowers! I SO love this!

We have been having a lot of rain due to Fay. And, unlike some of my friends, who are complaining about the rain, I admit...I love it! Especially the kind that comes with a big storm like this. The total power unleashed....Nature in it's element. The raw fury (but we really haven't seen any of this). She is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and no one stands in her way. Kind of like She-Ra!! Ha! Which my girls totally are into right now!

FINALLY....

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

As promised, here's a scrapbook page!! I have so been meaning to do this, but life seems to get in the way. The fun stuff has a tendency to fall to the side, while the things that make up my everyday life consume me! Am I the only one this happens to?

This is a page I did a while back, but I love it for the total simplicity of it (thanks, Kristy for the inspiration). I promise, I will try to post more pages soon, because goodness knows they are buried in the stack here on my desk! Not to mention the fact that the pages actually need to make it into the books they are designated for! Hope you enjoy!!

This one's for you! So, I don't even want to hear it! I admit, I have not posted any scrapbooking pages/projects. That would entail scanning images and just digging them out of the massive pile of things I need to file, but I promise, I will do this within the next month.....

Nothing really new here. The girls are getting ready to start school...Um, thank goodness! I think I've had enough of the fighting, screaming, and yelling to last me until next summer!

Hopefully, I will have time to update my blog this weekend, so just check back! I want to sit down and make a new banner, or at least, incorporate something to fit into the box at the top...Projects, projects, and more projects!

P.S. That is a "tattoo" by Bo's eye. She HAD to have one there!

Will work on this over the weekend. Need to download pictures. Post more about my life...BUT, I love this!!

Notice the cool little red butterfly in the right upper corner? I LOVE IT! It's so me! I know the header doesn't look right, but I'll work on this, too. Just need a little more time :D

MIA....

Sunday, July 27, 2008

Amazing, isn't it? I'm actually posting! I realy have SO much to post, but not enough time to do it right now, as I am currently working on my taxes. Yes, my taxes. Finally...going to get those stupid things done! I swear, it seems the government can waste more time in having people do needless paper work. I'd rather pay a higher state/county tax than do income tax!!

Well, Syd's been at Sea World with my sister and her family for a few days. She just got home today, and it is so nice to have her back in the house. Bo has missed her, so the two of them have essentially been playing together all afternoon.

Totally psyched up about the scrapbook crop on the 8th. Can't wait to see you girls! Promise I will be there, but I won't promise I will have something to work on, as I have been SO busy with my job. I swear, it seems that all I have been doing recently is working...posting insurance payments. Ugh! Numbers, numbers, and more numbers.

Actually had to attend a billing meeting this past Saturday. Gone from 7 am to 6 pm just at the meeting. Luckily, it was in Orlando! Since mom works in billing with me, we just took a separate car from the rest of the girls and went to eat authentic, wonderful Chinese food afterwards. And, did I mention we went to IKEA? I love that store! Also, we made a detour to Target to pick up a few things, and low and behold, there was a Krispy Kreme store right there!! And with the HOT sign on! Quick trip there to bring doughuts home for the dh and Bo. Also, picked some up for dad and lil' bro. We all enjoyed them, as there is nothing like fresh, yummy Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

I so love going out of town!

I didn't even know this...

The girls and I went to a birthday party the other evening....it was a co-worker's son's b-day party. Well, there were approximately 15 people there that I work with. Bo, of course, was being her usual party self! Apparently, she told my manager's husband, Bill, that, "My mimi takes her teeth out at night!"

Gina mentioned this to me this morning. Hummmmm...I wasn't aware that my mother had dentures. So, when I asked my mom what may have prompted this? Well, my mother does wear a retainer throughout the day, and apparently, she took it out the other night when the girls spent the night. So, poor Bill. He now thinks my mom wears dentures!! Ha! Bo ~ the crazy little girl!

The girls and I went to St. Augustine a few weeks ago. It was a blast!! We went with my sister, Dawn, and her family; my sister, Karin, and her family, and mom and dad. A few days at the beach....relaxing and taking it easy.

And look at little Addison! How could one not love this little face? She is just growing up to be such a little girl! And, check out the glasses! That girl wore them the whole time at the beach and whenever it was just plain sunny, which was quite a bit. She's already into shoes, and she's a little flirt! She loves the boys....Kinda sounds like her cousin, Bo!

Still here.....

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

I'm not dead, if that's what you're wondering! I admit, I have been SO busy the last month, and I've had very little down time. I haven't even purused my favorite blogs; it's been that hectic!

Scrapbooked with the girls last Friday night! So what I needed! Especially after my car got hit in the parking lot of Longhorns! Some jerk backed into the driver's side back door, and put this dent in the door. Ugh! I was NOT happy about that!!!

On Saturday, me and the girls went shopping and bumming around with Yvonne and Bre. I had to stop by Walmart to find some buttons, and Bre got out of the car....and slammed the driver's side back door. And, guess what? I heard this PLOING sound. At about the same time, Yvonne and I whip our heads around to look at the car. And, low and behold, the darned, offending dent POPPED OUT! I started laughing, I got so excited! Woohoo!

Other than that, I've been working and working and working. Add to this, I want to enter a scrapbook contest, and I really need to work on that! So, I promise, I will post some pictures this weekend....And, leave comments! That way, I know you're dropping by to say "hi" or just to find out what the hell has happened in my life now!

Here's what's up......

Sunday, May 11, 2008

Well, to say it's been a long time is an understatement...My computer broke. As in DIED! I am actually typing this from my hubby's computer, which he is not happy about... Oh, well! He'll get over it :D !

Syd had her first field trip the other day - to the Publix supermarket! Whoowhee! Needless to say, she was not impressed. Though the other 6-year-olds in her class LOVED it! After the "behind the scenes" tour of Publix, they headed over to the park for play time. 18 little kids running around, screaming, yelling...makes me feel somewhat sorry for her teacher. How does she do it?

Well, of course, the good mom that I am, I decide that I, too, am going to run around and chase the kids. I go up these step things and stand up at the top. Only to realize that I am standing up under a 4-ft tall, metal arch. The glasses I was wearing on the top of my head, shattered into my head as I stood up. Ouch is an understatment...and I just got those darned glasses!

I actually have some pictures that I would like to post, but with the computer down and no CS2 to play with, it's taken all of the fun out of it. Have layouts I would like to take pictures of and post, but NO COMPUTER. DH is trying to get CS2 loaded onto the computer (he HAD to switch it to Linnux), but the darned program doesn't want to acknowledge CS2. I am about to have a nervous breakdown, but he has yet to realize it...or maybe he has, since I told him to religate (is this how you spell it?) the darn thing to the garbage... Or better yet, he can use it!

Mother's Day has been uneventful. My sisters and I took my mom out for Chinese food this afternoon, and then, two of my sisters, their husbands, and their kids came over to relax in the pool. So, between the drizzle, the wind, and the screaming, crying children that do not want to learn to swim, it was fun! Oh, and did I mention the puppy that my sister, Dawn, brought over? Lola kept wanting to play with Pepper, our cat. Pepper was having none of that!! She kept trying to attack the poor little dog! And, yes, the dog is little! Add to the fact, that everyone kept trying to put the dog in the pool to see if it would swim...For all of you animal lovers out there, the puppy is fine. She was not harmed in any way. In fact, JJ, my bil, put the puppy on a boogie board and floated her across the pool.

Anyways, hope everyone had a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! Hopefully, I will eventually post some pictures soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SYD!!

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

My little girl is 6-years-old today! It's amazing how time flies! Syd is turning into such a beautiful, young lady, and she makes me so proud. She is vivacious, energetic, and she makes the most out of everything!

Upon waking her up this morning:
Me: Happy Birthday, Syd!
Syd stretches and smiles.
Syd: I can't wait until I'm 16. I really want to drive.

Um, OK. I didn't even know that she knew you could drive at 16!

So, Syd, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY!

We are A'OK!

Took Bo to the doctor's office today ~ third time in a week. The nurse just shook her head when bringing us back. Needless to say, Bo's bite is healing well. However, she is now caught a cold ~ probably something she picked up at the doctor's office when she was in there on Friday. Just wanted to give you guys an update!

It's just another day....

Saturday, April 19, 2008

This is how I feel like I look right now!!

I swear! It only happens to me... Started off yesterday with a massive migraine, which went away after some medicine and a nap, in the morning. Then, I had to take Bo to the doctor, as her wrist has been swollen for some days now. This occurred when she was goofing around the house. I was unaware that she had fallen, but when I noticed her wrist, she told me that she "fell off the red stool." She is such a busy body, and she is always getting hurt. I can honestly say, I do not remember one specific occasion when she was complaining of her wrist.

Anyways, I took her to the doctor, who then sent her for an x-ray. So, to the radiology office to get an x-ray. The wait wasn't bad, but who really wants to wait to get an x-ray on their day off? Good news was, there was no break. Possibly just a sprain.

Well, by the time we were finished, it was time to pick up Syd from school. While we were in the car line, I got a call from my neighbor across the street. She had been sick and was at the doctor's, and she was wondering if I wouldn't mind to let her dogs into the house, as she had left them outside 5 hours ago. Oh, I didn't mind. The girls and I got home, walked across the street, and went into Cathy's backyard. I could hear the dogs barking on the other side of the house, and I wanted to call to them to make myself known before I just walked into their line of sight. Well, of course, Bo has to walk in front of us by 20 or more feet. I kept yelling at Bo to come back to me, but the child has a mind of her own. AND, of course, the dog runs around the corner and bites Bo's thigh. As soon as Sierra realized WHO it was, she let go. (I know this sounds horrible, but it was actually not as scary as it sounds.) Of course, at this time, I really only thought the dog knocked Bo down. I picked her up (she was crying) and walked up the porch to let the dogs in. Bo is still crying and saying, "The doggie bit me!" Yeah, right....well, anyways, I noticed a small hole in her pants. I pulled her pants down right there on the porch, and low and behold, there was a puncture in her upper thigh. Ugh!

Then, to top it all off, I ended up taking the girls to Michael's to look for watercolor paints. They picked out their supplies. I pay for them, and when I go to look for the keys, um, no keys. We walk to the car, look through the window, and there are the keys sitting in the passenger seat. So, I had to call the DH to come and unlock the door.

It would be really nice to have an uneventful day. Luckily, I had one of those today. Got some work done for the office and even managed to post on my blog. Hope tomorrow is uneventful as today!

My first contest post

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Drumroll please....I entered my first photography contest. The prize? A free class, which I might add, I have been DYING to take! The criteria for this photo was:

1. There must be a child, under the age of 18, present in the picture

2. It must be taken outside.

3. You must use an umbrella in the photo.

Hmm...let's see. I've recently been brainstorming about a photo using a RED umbrella. Only problem is that I couldn't find a red umbrella I really liked. So, I found one at K-mart that would serve my purposes, at least for now. On top of that, I only found out about the contest yesterday, and the fact that it ends at midnight on April 15, really made it impossible to drive around town looking for another umbrella. Mind you, I had grand visions of what the umbrella would look like. Add to the fact, that since my computer died, I cannot POP the color in Photoshop. So, what you see, is what comes out of the camera. (Sorry, Dawn, cannot do anything about your pictures just yet. You'll just have to wait about a week or so.)

Anyways, this is the picture I entered. I also had grand visions of this picture that I wanted to do for me. It was also suppose to be at the beach, but I admit, I didn't have time to go to the beach today. But the point is, I entered the contest. It's a first for me. Just have to get better at this hobby of mine!

My SO called life

Monday, April 14, 2008

Well, I know it's been a while. There are SO many things that have happened... Let's see.

First, for those of you who don't know me, I have a Ford minivan. It's a little over 3-years old, has less than 34,000 miles, and is completely paid off! Well, we have been having car problems, as the van has been "sputtering" around 45-50 mph. Ford "fixed" the problem with $2,000 worth of faulty computer equipment, which was covered under warranty. ONLY to have to take the stupid van back to the shop because it was STILL sputtering. Then, we get told that, um, it's going to take approximately $700 worth of non-warranty work to fix the van. Um, hello? Wasn't that suppose to have been taken car of previously? Apparently, not. So, the DH goes down to Ford, tells them off, and explains to them why Toyota will have the biggest sales of the year ~ they take pride in their work!!

Then, Saturday morning, Syd and I were outside in the yard: gardening, swimming in the pool, and just goofing off. The DH pokes his head out the door and says that he's going to get a haircut. I give him VERY specific instructions: make sure the back door is unlocked and shut the garage door, as Bo is still inside sleeping. Well, that should have been easy enough....But, I forgot, this was a MAN I was speaking to! Lo and behold, when I look up at the back door, it's wide open! So, I walk over and shut the door, as the AC was running. ONLY, to find out that the damn door is LOCKED! Did I mention that Sydnie and I had just jumped in the pool? Now, I am dripping wet AND locked out of the back door. So, she and I walked around the house, AND (no surprise here), the garage door was OPEN! Um, OK. But, of course, the door leading into the house was locked......

Well, Syd and I hatch a plan ~ Syd goes to the front door and continously rings the doorbell, as I know this will freak Bo out. As I can see through the garage door-leading-into-the house, I watch as Bo comes screaming down the hall, holding her blankie. I'm outside the door, waving my arms back and forth, and she finally calms down. I explain to her to put her blankie down and unlock the door. Finally! Syd and I can dry off.

Now, to today. I cleaned the kitchen before I left for work this morning. I figured I would take the coffee grounds out of the coffee pot, so that DH would not spill anything on my clean counters, as he always makes a mess. So, I pull the filter out and proceed to spill the grounds on my counter and into the compartment where you put the filter on the coffee pot. I, then, proceed to clean the counters and pull the piece out of the coffee pot to rinse out. ONLY, to pull the piece out and FLING the grounds across the top cabinets. (I can already tell it's going to be one of those days.) It all tops off when I get home. (Have I mentioned that I have also been having computer problems?) The DH tells me that my computer has officially died...my motherboard has melted. Um, what now? I finally decide to drive down to the grocery store to pick up dinner. While I'm driving, I feel as if my bra is poking me, like halfway up my underarm! OK, now what!! The darned underwire has poked through the bra and is now proceeding to come out and poke me!

And, the computer! uh, well......what can I say to this? Thank goodness I just backed up my stuff last week!

So, I will now share a picture of my little sister, her husband, and my nephews and nieces!

Until the next saga.....

The thing that made my day!

Friday, April 4, 2008

I admit, I've been having a crazy week, especially at work! My mom and sister are in Hong Kong currently visiting my relatives, so mom has been gone from work....by the way, my mom and I work together. So, anyways, this has made my work-life hectic! But enough of that, as I don't want to talk about work ~ have to deal with it enough every day!

My husband's aunt sent me an e-mail, she received from a friend, which complimented the photography on my blog! Yeah! Thank you, thank you! This really made my day, as Kathy wrote "those photos were, hands down, of professional quality." I know my family says this to me, but they're my family. They're SUPPOSE to say things to boost my morale! So, for someone who doesn't know me to say that....well, needless to say, it made my day!

And to top it off, my BFF, Yvonne, had a scrapbook layout posted on Teresa Collins's blog. Teresa Collins is a big name in scrapbooking for those of you who don't know this. She just released her own line of papers and embellishements this year! So, Yvonne made a layout using Teresa's stuff, and then, she forwarded it to Teresa! And, guess what? Teresa posted the LO on her blog!!! You can't get much better than this, except...you could have Tara Whitney post a picture of yours on her blog (I can dream). You can check out Yvonne's layout at http://www.teresacollins.typepad.com/.

Syd's funny.....

Saturday, March 29, 2008

We had a girl's night planned for tonight. A trip into the LSS to see Yvonne's vinyl chandelier masterpiece! A jot into Target for a few needed things. And then off to see Daddy at work ~ the kids always love this! Needless to say, it was VERY easy for the girls to convince me that we needed to go to Sonny's for dinner. Did I mention that I hate cooking? Not really the cooking aspect of it. Just the part where I have to figure out WHAT I am going to make.

I digress. Anyways, I pull into the drive through at Sonny's to place our order.

Syd: "Mommy, aren't we going in to eat?"
me: "No, just picking the food up in the drive through."
Syd: "You mean, THIS is the NEW AND IMPROVED Sonny's?"

Ha! If she only knew....

Life, according to Bo

Thursday, March 27, 2008

Had to run to the bank this morning. Bo went with me. Of course, she lucked out, as she got a lollypop ~ at 10:00 in the morning!!

Bo: "Oh, mommy! Look! A Lillypop!"

This "lillypop" got me thinking. She definitely has her very own vocabulary. Such as blutterflies and callapillars.

Then, there was the time in the garden. She was picking up camellia buds off of the ground and gently placing them in her blinged out ladybug purse. "Mommy! Look at all my contexts!" She kept repeating this over and over. To this day, I have no idea what it means!

Ah, but lillypops! That just makes me smile!
