HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SYD!!

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

My little girl is 6-years-old today! It's amazing how time flies! Syd is turning into such a beautiful, young lady, and she makes me so proud. She is vivacious, energetic, and she makes the most out of everything!

Upon waking her up this morning:
Me: Happy Birthday, Syd!
Syd stretches and smiles.
Syd: I can't wait until I'm 16. I really want to drive.

Um, OK. I didn't even know that she knew you could drive at 16!

So, Syd, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY!

We are A'OK!

Took Bo to the doctor's office today ~ third time in a week. The nurse just shook her head when bringing us back. Needless to say, Bo's bite is healing well. However, she is now caught a cold ~ probably something she picked up at the doctor's office when she was in there on Friday. Just wanted to give you guys an update!

It's just another day....

Saturday, April 19, 2008

This is how I feel like I look right now!!

I swear! It only happens to me... Started off yesterday with a massive migraine, which went away after some medicine and a nap, in the morning. Then, I had to take Bo to the doctor, as her wrist has been swollen for some days now. This occurred when she was goofing around the house. I was unaware that she had fallen, but when I noticed her wrist, she told me that she "fell off the red stool." She is such a busy body, and she is always getting hurt. I can honestly say, I do not remember one specific occasion when she was complaining of her wrist.

Anyways, I took her to the doctor, who then sent her for an x-ray. So, to the radiology office to get an x-ray. The wait wasn't bad, but who really wants to wait to get an x-ray on their day off? Good news was, there was no break. Possibly just a sprain.

Well, by the time we were finished, it was time to pick up Syd from school. While we were in the car line, I got a call from my neighbor across the street. She had been sick and was at the doctor's, and she was wondering if I wouldn't mind to let her dogs into the house, as she had left them outside 5 hours ago. Oh, I didn't mind. The girls and I got home, walked across the street, and went into Cathy's backyard. I could hear the dogs barking on the other side of the house, and I wanted to call to them to make myself known before I just walked into their line of sight. Well, of course, Bo has to walk in front of us by 20 or more feet. I kept yelling at Bo to come back to me, but the child has a mind of her own. AND, of course, the dog runs around the corner and bites Bo's thigh. As soon as Sierra realized WHO it was, she let go. (I know this sounds horrible, but it was actually not as scary as it sounds.) Of course, at this time, I really only thought the dog knocked Bo down. I picked her up (she was crying) and walked up the porch to let the dogs in. Bo is still crying and saying, "The doggie bit me!" Yeah, right....well, anyways, I noticed a small hole in her pants. I pulled her pants down right there on the porch, and low and behold, there was a puncture in her upper thigh. Ugh!

Then, to top it all off, I ended up taking the girls to Michael's to look for watercolor paints. They picked out their supplies. I pay for them, and when I go to look for the keys, um, no keys. We walk to the car, look through the window, and there are the keys sitting in the passenger seat. So, I had to call the DH to come and unlock the door.

It would be really nice to have an uneventful day. Luckily, I had one of those today. Got some work done for the office and even managed to post on my blog. Hope tomorrow is uneventful as today!

My first contest post

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Drumroll please....I entered my first photography contest. The prize? A free class, which I might add, I have been DYING to take! The criteria for this photo was:

1. There must be a child, under the age of 18, present in the picture

2. It must be taken outside.

3. You must use an umbrella in the photo.

Hmm...let's see. I've recently been brainstorming about a photo using a RED umbrella. Only problem is that I couldn't find a red umbrella I really liked. So, I found one at K-mart that would serve my purposes, at least for now. On top of that, I only found out about the contest yesterday, and the fact that it ends at midnight on April 15, really made it impossible to drive around town looking for another umbrella. Mind you, I had grand visions of what the umbrella would look like. Add to the fact, that since my computer died, I cannot POP the color in Photoshop. So, what you see, is what comes out of the camera. (Sorry, Dawn, cannot do anything about your pictures just yet. You'll just have to wait about a week or so.)

Anyways, this is the picture I entered. I also had grand visions of this picture that I wanted to do for me. It was also suppose to be at the beach, but I admit, I didn't have time to go to the beach today. But the point is, I entered the contest. It's a first for me. Just have to get better at this hobby of mine!

My SO called life

Monday, April 14, 2008

Well, I know it's been a while. There are SO many things that have happened... Let's see.

First, for those of you who don't know me, I have a Ford minivan. It's a little over 3-years old, has less than 34,000 miles, and is completely paid off! Well, we have been having car problems, as the van has been "sputtering" around 45-50 mph. Ford "fixed" the problem with $2,000 worth of faulty computer equipment, which was covered under warranty. ONLY to have to take the stupid van back to the shop because it was STILL sputtering. Then, we get told that, um, it's going to take approximately $700 worth of non-warranty work to fix the van. Um, hello? Wasn't that suppose to have been taken car of previously? Apparently, not. So, the DH goes down to Ford, tells them off, and explains to them why Toyota will have the biggest sales of the year ~ they take pride in their work!!

Then, Saturday morning, Syd and I were outside in the yard: gardening, swimming in the pool, and just goofing off. The DH pokes his head out the door and says that he's going to get a haircut. I give him VERY specific instructions: make sure the back door is unlocked and shut the garage door, as Bo is still inside sleeping. Well, that should have been easy enough....But, I forgot, this was a MAN I was speaking to! Lo and behold, when I look up at the back door, it's wide open! So, I walk over and shut the door, as the AC was running. ONLY, to find out that the damn door is LOCKED! Did I mention that Sydnie and I had just jumped in the pool? Now, I am dripping wet AND locked out of the back door. So, she and I walked around the house, AND (no surprise here), the garage door was OPEN! Um, OK. But, of course, the door leading into the house was locked......

Well, Syd and I hatch a plan ~ Syd goes to the front door and continously rings the doorbell, as I know this will freak Bo out. As I can see through the garage door-leading-into-the house, I watch as Bo comes screaming down the hall, holding her blankie. I'm outside the door, waving my arms back and forth, and she finally calms down. I explain to her to put her blankie down and unlock the door. Finally! Syd and I can dry off.

Now, to today. I cleaned the kitchen before I left for work this morning. I figured I would take the coffee grounds out of the coffee pot, so that DH would not spill anything on my clean counters, as he always makes a mess. So, I pull the filter out and proceed to spill the grounds on my counter and into the compartment where you put the filter on the coffee pot. I, then, proceed to clean the counters and pull the piece out of the coffee pot to rinse out. ONLY, to pull the piece out and FLING the grounds across the top cabinets. (I can already tell it's going to be one of those days.) It all tops off when I get home. (Have I mentioned that I have also been having computer problems?) The DH tells me that my computer has officially died...my motherboard has melted. Um, what now? I finally decide to drive down to the grocery store to pick up dinner. While I'm driving, I feel as if my bra is poking me, like halfway up my underarm! OK, now what!! The darned underwire has poked through the bra and is now proceeding to come out and poke me!

And, the computer! uh, well......what can I say to this? Thank goodness I just backed up my stuff last week!

So, I will now share a picture of my little sister, her husband, and my nephews and nieces!

Until the next saga.....

The thing that made my day!

Friday, April 4, 2008

I admit, I've been having a crazy week, especially at work! My mom and sister are in Hong Kong currently visiting my relatives, so mom has been gone from work....by the way, my mom and I work together. So, anyways, this has made my work-life hectic! But enough of that, as I don't want to talk about work ~ have to deal with it enough every day!

My husband's aunt sent me an e-mail, she received from a friend, which complimented the photography on my blog! Yeah! Thank you, thank you! This really made my day, as Kathy wrote "those photos were, hands down, of professional quality." I know my family says this to me, but they're my family. They're SUPPOSE to say things to boost my morale! So, for someone who doesn't know me to say that....well, needless to say, it made my day!

And to top it off, my BFF, Yvonne, had a scrapbook layout posted on Teresa Collins's blog. Teresa Collins is a big name in scrapbooking for those of you who don't know this. She just released her own line of papers and embellishements this year! So, Yvonne made a layout using Teresa's stuff, and then, she forwarded it to Teresa! And, guess what? Teresa posted the LO on her blog!!! You can't get much better than this, except...you could have Tara Whitney post a picture of yours on her blog (I can dream). You can check out Yvonne's layout at http://www.teresacollins.typepad.com/.
